I have always been a creature of habit and tend to gravitate toward the same foods over and over again. After getting married, I quickly realized how boring and picky my diet was and my husband helped me to branch out and try new things. Even though I am more adventurous with what I try now, there are certain foods that I still eat every. single. day.
I love the flavor of homemade oatmeal with cinnamon and fresh apples added in. Unfortunately, it takes entirely too long on a workday morning to prepare a bowl of fresh oatmeal. Luckily, a few months ago we stumbled across a huge box of Quaker instant oatmeal at Costco. I was skeptical at first because I have tried making oatmeal in the microwave before and I was very disappointed with the result. I decided to give it a try anyway and I was pleasantly surprised. I love all three flavors and I have already purchased another box for when I finish off the first one! I love how it keeps me fuller longer and it is delicious but still healthy.
I am a huge lover of carbs. I’m pretty sure my diet is 90% carbs. I know that it isn’t the healthiest diet choice but I can’t help myself. Give me all the breads! Whether it be bread for a sandwich, crescent rolls or biscuits for my second breakfast (yes I did just say that in my mind with a hobbit voice), or rolls with dinner, I always incorporate bread into one meal every day.
When I was little I always thought I would hate sweet potatoes because I didn’t like regular potatoes. The color freaked me out. I just didn’t understand the concept of a potato that was sweet. I don’t think I ever actually tried them though until I was in college. The first thing I thought after taking my first bite was all those wasted years of not eating these. Thanks again to Costco (no I don’t work for them, I just really really like buying things in bulk for cheap), we can buy a huge bag of sweet potatoes that I can enjoy for lunch or dinner (or sometimes both).
I have had to cut a lot out of my diet since beginning breastfeeding due to mini T having reflux. Thankfully, I have been able to continue to incorporate chocolate into my diet. I have never had a big sweet tooth but breastfeeding has me reaching for everything sugary and sweet lately. I don’t overdo it and eat an entire chocolate cake or anything. At least not recently. I do, however indulge in a little chocolate every day.
I am a true believer in snacking and always have been. I can’t just eat three big meals a day and be satisfied. I try to have a little something between meals and sometimes right before dinner. Lately I have gravitated toward granola because it is packed with protein and it’s tasty. I usually pack a few in my lunch box and I have them stashed all over the house and in the car in case of emergency. They are my go-to right now for a quick and easy snack.
